Questions And Answers On Lipoflavonoid Tinnitus

Lynn asks…

Does an otc supplement called Lipoflavonoid really help tinnitus?

admin answers:

I am an audiologist & deal with tinnitus on a daily basis in my patients. I have never found any OTC to help tinnitus. There are literally hundreds of causes of tinnitus including: stress, hearing loss, high blood pressure, medications, asprin, caffiene, alcohol, blood oxygen level, tumors, and many more… There is really no cure for tinnitus, most people are successful with ignoring it. I counsel my patients to try to avoid very quiet environments (i.e. Keep a fan on in the bedroom at night, keep a fountain or other semi-quiet noise source on in the house). If you have not been evaluated to ensure that there is no hearing loss or other illness, it is prudent to see an ENT (Ear, Nose & Throat physician or an audiologist for evaluation). If it is something you simply can’t deal with, there are certain therapies that have proven somewhat useful (i.e. Tinnitus retraining or sound enrichment therapy), and your physician or audiologist can discuss those with you.
